イギリス研修 

On 18 September, the final day of our study tour, we visited several famous places in London and Windsor. Throughout the day, Ms Tucker, our Blue Badge guide, shared many interesting facts about British history and culture with us.

After leaving the hotel, we first visited Buckingham Palace. It was the first time I had seen the King’s Guards wearing their red tunics and bearskin hats in person. The magnificent Palace and the Victoria Memorial made me realise once again that I was truly in Britain.

We then walked to the Palace of Westminster, where we took photographs with the Houses of Parliament and the Elizabeth Tower, commonly known as Big Ben, behind us. We were able to hear the familiar melody of the bells, which is similar to a chime often used in Japanese schools.

We also saw Westminster Abbey, where many royal coronations, weddings and funerals have taken place. Next to it stands Westminster School, which was attended by A. A. Milne, the author of Winnie-the-Pooh. Walking through this historic area enabled us to learn more about the roles that these buildings have played in British history.

We then boarded the coach again and travelled to Windsor Castle, the final destination of our study tour. I was surprised when a member of staff at the entrance spoke to us in Japanese. A Japanese-language multimedia guide was also available, which helped us understand the history and significance of the places and objects we saw.

Walking through the Castle grounds felt like entering the world of a story or a role-playing game. One of the first things we saw was Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House. It was built at a scale of 1:12, and even its electricity, running water, furniture and miniature books were recreated in remarkable detail. Its craftsmanship and precision made a very strong impression on me.

As we continued through the Castle with the multimedia guide, we saw a remarkable collection of paintings, furniture and ceremonial objects associated with the Royal Family. The magnificent rooms and countless historic objects reflected the Castle’s long history as a royal residence. Windsor Castle was founded in the 11th century and is the world’s oldest and largest occupied castle.

There was so much to see that it was impossible to examine everything carefully in the limited time available. Towards the end of our visit, we therefore had to move through some of the rooms rather quickly.

After meeting as a group, we were given some additional free time, so I visited St George’s Chapel within the Castle grounds. The Chapel is the spiritual home of the Order of the Garter. Around the choir stalls, visitors can see the banners, crests and stall plates associated with its members. The Chapel is also the burial place of a number of monarchs and members of the Royal Family, including Edward IV, Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth II.

We had also visited a chapel in Cambridge earlier in the study tour. Both chapels were beautiful, but each had its own distinctive character. Personally, I found the stained-glass windows in Cambridge particularly impressive, while the organ at St George’s Chapel made the stronger impression on me. Comparing the two helped me notice how chapels can differ in their architecture, decoration and atmosphere.

After leaving the Castle, we had our final opportunity to go shopping. We then travelled by coach to Heathrow Airport. We completed the airport procedures without any major difficulties and said goodbye to Ms Tucker, who had taught us so much about British history and culture during our time in London.

Throughout this study tour, we experienced many different aspects of British life, including school life, homestays, university education, art, history and royal traditions. I would like to remember everything that I learnt in the UK and remain grateful to all the people who supported our visit.

Goodbye, England!

9月18日，イギリス研修最終日を迎えました。この日は，ブルーバッジガイドのタッカーさんから英国の歴史や文化に関するさまざまな豆知識を教えていただきながら，ロンドンとウィンザーの名所を訪れました。

ホテルを出発し，最初にバッキンガム宮殿を訪れました。赤い制服と熊の毛皮で作られた帽子を身に着けた近衛兵を，初めて実際に見ることができました。荘厳な宮殿と，その前に立つヴィクトリア記念碑を目にして，「イギリスに来た」ということを改めて実感しました。

その後，少し歩いて，エリザベス・タワー，通称ビッグ・ベンと，国会議事堂として使用されているウェストミンスター宮殿を背景に記念写真を撮りました。学校のチャイムでもなじみのある鐘の旋律を，現地で聞くことができました。

さらに，英国王室の戴冠式や結婚式，葬儀などが行われてきたウェストミンスター寺院を見学しました。その隣には，『クマのプーさん』の作者A・A・ミルンも学んだウェストミンスター・スクールがありました。ロンドンの歴史的建造物が集まる場所を実際に歩き，それぞれの建物が英国の歴史の中で果たしてきた役割を知ることができました。

再びバスに乗り，研修最後の訪問地であるウィンザー城へ向かいました。入口では，スタッフの方が日本語で話しかけてくださり，驚きました。日本語の音声ガイドも用意されていたため，説明を聞きながら城内を見学しました。

広い城内に入ると，まるで物語やゲームの世界に入り込んだように感じました。最初に見学したのは，クイーン・メアリーのドールズハウスです。実物の12分の1の大きさで作られており，電気，水道，家具，本などが細部まで精巧に再現されていました。小さな王室の邸宅のようなドールズハウスを見て，その緻密さに圧倒されました。

その後，音声ガイドを聞きながら，城内の華やかな調度品や絵画，王室に関係する展示を見学しました。どの部屋にも，長い歴史と王室の権威を感じさせる品々が数多く展示されていました。見どころが多く，限られた時間ではすべてをゆっくり見ることができなかったため，最後は少し急いで見学することになりました。

一度集合した後，再び自由に見学する時間が設けられたため，城内にあるセント・ジョージ礼拝堂を訪れました。この礼拝堂は，ガーター勲章と深い関係を持つ場所です。聖歌隊席の周辺には，ガーター騎士団員の旗，紋章や席次を示すプレートなどが掲げられていました。また，ヘンリー8世，エドワード4世，エリザベス2世をはじめとする歴代の国王・女王や王室関係者が埋葬されています。

ケンブリッジでも礼拝堂を見学しましたが，それぞれに異なる美しさがありました。個人的には，ステンドグラスはケンブリッジで見た礼拝堂が，オルガンはセント・ジョージ礼拝堂が特に印象に残りました。建築や装飾を見比べることで，同じ礼拝堂であっても，場所によって特徴が異なることに気づきました。

見学後には，研修最後の買い物を楽しみました。その後，バスでヒースロー空港へ移動しました。空港では大きな問題もなく手続きを終え，研修中に英国の歴史や文化について多くのことを教えてくださったタッカーさんにお別れを告げました。

今回の研修では，英国の学校生活，ホームステイ，大学，芸術，歴史，王室文化など，多くのことを実際に見て学ぶことができました。英国で得た経験と，支えてくださったすべての方への感謝を忘れず，これからの学びに生かしたいと思います。

Goodbye, England!

Today, we visited King’s Cross Station, the National Portrait Gallery, the National Gallery and the Embassy of Japan in the UK.

In the morning, some of us visited King’s Cross Station. We were able to see a place made famous by the Harry Potter films, and it became one of our enjoyable memories of London.

We then visited the National Portrait Gallery, where a member of staff gave us an explanation of several portraits in English. As we had researched figures and portraits from the Tudor period before our visit, I was able to connect the explanation with what I had already learnt.

I discovered that a person’s character, social position and authority could be represented through their facial expression, clothing, posture and possessions. Seeing the original portraits was very different from looking at them in photographs or textbooks. The paintings were powerful, and it was fascinating to observe their colours and fine details at close range.

Afterwards, we spent about an hour at the National Gallery. We saw paintings from different periods and parts of the world and experienced an artistic atmosphere that was different from what we normally encounter in Japan. Although our visit was short, it gave us an opportunity to look closely at the works and consider their different styles and backgrounds.

In the afternoon, we walked through central London, visiting places such as Trafalgar Square, St James’s Park and Buckingham Palace. We then visited the Embassy of Japan in the UK.

Since arriving in the UK, we had experienced many aspects of culture and daily life that were different from those in Japan. Entering the Embassy therefore made me feel, for a moment, as though I had returned to Japan.

At the Embassy, we had the valuable opportunity to listen to Mr Maeda, a Minister at the Embassy and an alumnus of Hyogo Senior High School. He spoke about his memories of Hyogo Senior High School, what inspired him to become a diplomat, his work at the Embassy, and the importance of communicating with people from different cultural backgrounds and perspectives.

His talk encouraged me to think about my own future and Japan’s role in international society.

During dinner, I also had an opportunity to speak directly with Mr Maeda. He told us more about his work and his experience of living abroad. Our conversation encouraged me to think more seriously about my future, which I had not previously considered in much detail. Learning that a former student of Hyogo Senior High School is now working internationally was extremely inspiring.

Today was a very fulfilling day. We not only visited several important places in London and experienced British art and history, but also had an opportunity to think about our own futures. I would like to make the most of the remaining time in the UK and continue learning from each experience.

今日は，キングス・クロス駅，ナショナル・ポートレート・ギャラリー，ナショナル・ギャラリー，在英国日本国大使館を訪れました。

朝，希望者でキングス・クロス駅を訪れました。映画『ハリー・ポッター』で知られる場所を見ることができ，ロンドンでの楽しい思い出の一つになりました。

その後，ナショナル・ポートレート・ギャラリーを訪れました。館内では，現地スタッフの方から英語で肖像画について説明していただきました。事前にチューダー朝の人物や肖像画について調べていたため，英語の説明と自分が学んだ内容を結びつけながら鑑賞することができました。

肖像画では，人物の表情，服装，姿勢や持ち物などを通して，その人物の特徴や立場，権力などが表現されていることを知りました。写真や教科書で見るのとは異なり，実物の肖像画には迫力があり，細かな色使いや描写を間近で見ることができて，とても興味深かったです。

その後，隣接するナショナル・ギャラリーも約1時間見学しました。館内にはさまざまな時代や地域の絵画が展示されており，日本とは異なる芸術や展示空間の雰囲気を感じました。限られた時間ではありましたが，実際の作品を見ながら，それぞれの表現や背景について考えることができました。

午後には，ロンドン市内を歩き，トラファルガー広場，セント・ジェームズ・パーク，バッキンガム宮殿などを見学した後，在英国日本国大使館を訪問しました。

イギリスに来てから，日本とは異なる文化や生活を数多く経験していたため，大使館に入ると，少し日本に帰ってきたような気持ちになりました。

大使館では，兵庫高校の卒業生である前田公使から，兵庫高校時代の思い出，外交官を目指したきっかけ，大使館での仕事，異なる文化や考え方を持つ人々との対話などについて，貴重なお話を伺いました。前田公使のお話を通して，自分の将来や国際社会における日本の役割について考えることができました。

夕食の際にも，前田公使と直接お話しする機会がありました。外交官としての仕事や海外での生活についてのお話を聞き，それまで具体的に考えていなかった自分の将来について考えるきっかけになりました。兵庫高校の先輩が，実際に海外で活躍されていることを知り，大きな刺激を受けました。

今日は，ロンドンのさまざまな場所を訪れ，芸術や歴史に触れただけでなく，自分の将来についても考えることができた，とても充実した一日になりました。残りのイギリスでの時間も大切にし，一つ一つの経験から多くのことを学びたいです。

Today was our final day with the host families who had looked after us for approximately four days.

On the first day of my homestay, I felt anxious because my host family spoke very quickly and I could not understand everything they said. However, in only four days, I became able to share jokes with them by using simple English, gestures and facial expressions. I was surprised by how much my communication had improved in such a short time.

I did not always use the English that I had learnt in exactly the same way as I had practised it in Japan. Instead, I learnt that we can still communicate by using the words we know, gestures and, most importantly, a strong desire to make ourselves understood.

One of my strongest memories was when the smartphone that I had lost was returned. My host family were very pleased for me, and their reaction made me feel as though I had become part of their family. I deeply regret not looking after my smartphone properly, and I will take greater responsibility for my belongings in future. At the same time, the kindness that my host family showed me became a special memory.

My host family were a lovely and kind couple, and I hope that I can become as warm and welcoming as them in the future. I almost cried when we hugged and said goodbye. We did not have much time because we had to leave for our meeting point, but the time I spent with them will remain an unforgettable memory.

After saying goodbye to our host families, we visited Bexley Grammar School and took part in activities with the local students. We then travelled by coach to London.

We are now staying in London. It is a fascinating city where historic buildings stand alongside modern skyscrapers. The mixture of old and new reminded me slightly of some cities in Japan.

After arriving in London, we were able to spend about an hour at the British Museum. I saw Hoa Hakananai’a, a moai figure from Rapa Nui. It was one of the few objects in the Museum that I already knew about, so I was pleased to see it in person.

I also saw the Rosetta Stone, which one of my friends had been very excited to see. Time passed very quickly while we were looking around the Museum, and it was soon time for the Museum to close. I later learnt that there were also galleries relating to Japan and displays of ancient Egyptian mummies. As we did not have time to see everything, I would like to visit the Museum again one day.

Today was full of different experiences: saying goodbye to my host family, meeting students at a new school and visiting a museum in London. During the rest of the study tour, I would like to remember what I learnt from my homestay and continue communicating without being too afraid of making mistakes.

今日は，約4日間お世話になったホストファミリーとお別れする日でした。

ホームステイ初日は，ホストファミリーの話す英語がとても速く，内容を十分に理解できないことに焦りを感じていました。しかし，わずか4日間で，簡単な英語やジェスチャーを使いながら，冗談を言い合えるまでになりました。短い期間でしたが，自分なりの成長を感じることができました。

日本で学んだ英語をそのまま使う場面ばかりではありませんでしたが，知っている単語，ジェスチャー，表情，そして何とか伝えようとする気持ちがあれば，相手と心を通わせられることを学びました。

特に印象に残っているのは，紛失したスマートフォンが戻ってきたとき，ホストファミリーが一緒に喜んでくれたことです。家族の一員として心配してもらえたように感じ，とても温かい気持ちになりました。スマートフォンを紛失したことは深く反省し，今後は自分の持ち物を責任を持って管理したいと思います。

ホストファミリーは，とてもすてきで温かい方々でした。最後にハグをしてお別れしたときには，涙が出そうになりました。集合時間が迫っていたため，ゆっくりお別れをすることはできませんでしたが，ホームステイで過ごした時間は忘れられない思い出になりました。

ホストファミリーとお別れした後は，Bexley Grammar Schoolを訪問し，現地の生徒たちと交流しました。その後，バスでロンドンへ移動しました。

現在，私たちはロンドンにいます。ロンドンは，歴史的な建造物と現代的な高層ビルが同じ街の中に並ぶ，不思議で魅力的な都市です。新しいものと古いものが共存しているところに，どこか日本と似た雰囲気も感じました。

ロンドン到着後には，大英博物館を約1時間見学することができました。館内では，ラパ・ヌイのモアイ像「ホア・ハカナナイア」を見ました。私が訪問前から知っていた展示物の一つだったので，実物を見ることができてうれしかったです。

また，友人が楽しみにしていたロゼッタ・ストーンも見学しました。館内の展示を見ているうちに，あっという間に閉館時間になりました。日本に関する展示や古代エジプトのミイラなど，今回見ることができなかった展示もあるため，いつかもう一度訪れたいと思います。

今日は，ホストファミリーとの別れ，新しい学校での交流，そしてロンドンでの博物館見学と，さまざまな経験をした一日でした。ホームステイで学んだ，間違いを恐れずに伝えようとする姿勢を，これからの研修でも大切にしたいです。

Today, we spent the whole day in Cambridge.

The University of Cambridge is well known in Japan. However, it does not consist of a single building or campus. It is a collegiate university made up of faculties, departments and 31 Colleges. University and College buildings can be found throughout Cambridge, making the whole city feel like a university town.

The town was even more beautiful than I had imagined. It had plenty of greenery and several spacious parks. Above all, I was impressed by the magnificent historic buildings. Everything I saw had an atmosphere of dignity and grandeur, and I felt that the history and aspirations of the many people who had studied and worked in Cambridge were still present in the city.

While walking through the city, I came across the Corpus Clock. On top of the clock is a grasshopper-like creature called the Chronophage, which means “time eater”. It appears to consume each passing second.

The clock made me reflect on my own use of time. Since becoming a senior high school student, I have often said that I cannot do something because I do not have enough time. However, time continues to pass even when we are doing nothing. The Chronophage seemed to warn me not to waste the limited time available to me.

We were then shown around a College by two students from the University of Cambridge. The first place we visited was the chapel. Its stained-glass windows were particularly beautiful. They depicted scenes connected with Christianity. I realised that if I had known more about Christianity and British history, I would have been able to understand the meaning of each image more deeply.

We also saw coats of arms and decorations that reflected the College’s historical connections with the British monarchy. This made me realise that architecture does not simply make a place look beautiful. It can also communicate the history, culture and values of the people who created it.

After the College tour, we had our packed lunches with the Cambridge students and explored the market and some local shops with them. Prices seemed much higher than those in Japan, so I sometimes hesitated when choosing souvenirs. However, I also realised that the opportunities available during this visit were limited, and that I should make thoughtful use of both my time and the experience.

In the afternoon, we took part in a presentation workshop led by the Cambridge students. We learnt how to organise a presentation clearly, communicate our ideas effectively and respond to questions. We then had an opportunity to practise giving short presentations in English.

I also spoke to a Cambridge student who told me about how hard university students study. The conversation encouraged me to take my own studies more seriously and to make better use of the opportunities available to me.

During our free time, I visited several shops and continued exploring the city. The historic brick buildings and the beautiful College buildings made a strong impression on me. Even the libraries were impressive. I felt that studying every day in such a historic and inspiring environment might influence both a student’s motivation and way of thinking.

I was also reminded that this valuable experience would not have been possible without the support of many people, including our teachers, local staff, staff at the places we visited, our families, members of the Bukyokai, airline staff and airport staff.

I do not want to take this opportunity for granted. I will continue the rest of the study tour with a sense of gratitude towards everyone who has supported us.

今日は一日，ケンブリッジで過ごしました。

「ケンブリッジ大学」という名前は日本でもよく知られています。しかし，実際には「ケンブリッジ大学」という一つの建物や一つのキャンパスがあるわけではありません。ケンブリッジ大学は，さまざまな学部や研究部門，そして31のカレッジから構成される「カレッジ制」の大学です。大学関係の建物が町の各所にあり，ケンブリッジ全体が大学の町として発展しています。

ケンブリッジの町並みは想像以上に美しく，緑が多く，広々とした公園もありました。大学やカレッジの建物には荘厳さがあり，この町で学び，研究してきた多くの人々の歴史が伝わってくるように感じました。

町を歩いていると，「コーパス・クロック」と呼ばれる時計を見つけました。時計の上には，バッタのような姿をした「クロノファージ」があります。「クロノファージ」とは「時を食べるもの」という意味で，過ぎていく時間を食べ続ける存在として表現されています。

私はこの時計を見て，「時間がないからできない」と言うことが増えていた自分自身を振り返りました。時間は誰にも同じように与えられていますが，何もしていなくても過ぎていきます。この時計には，「限られた時間を無駄にしてはいけない」というメッセージも込められているように感じました。

その後，ケンブリッジ大学の学生2人に案内してもらい，カレッジの中を見学しました。初めに訪れたチャペルでは，美しいステンドグラスを見ることができました。ステンドグラスにはキリスト教に関係するさまざまな場面が描かれており，宗教や歴史についてさらに詳しく知っていれば，一つ一つの絵が持つ意味をもっと深く理解できたのではないかと思いました。

建物の中には，英国王室との歴史的なつながりを示す紋章や装飾も見られました。見学を通して，建築物は美しいだけでなく，その場所の歴史，文化，価値観を伝えるものでもあることに気づきました。

カレッジ見学の後は，ケンブリッジ大学の学生と昼食を取り，マーケットや町の店を一緒に見て回りました。物価は日本より高く感じられ，お土産を選ぶ際には少し迷いました。しかし，現地を訪れたからこそ得られる経験を大切にし，限られた時間と機会を有効に使いたいと思いました。

午後には，ケンブリッジ大学の学生によるプレゼンテーションのワークショップに参加しました。発表の構成や伝え方について学び，実際に英語で発表する練習をしました。また，ケンブリッジ大学で学ぶ学生と話す機会もありました。その学生は日頃から非常に熱心に勉強していると話しており，私もその姿勢を見習いたいと思いました。

その後の自由時間には，町の店を回りました。ケンブリッジの歴史的なレンガ造りの建物や，カレッジの美しい建築が印象に残りました。図書館をはじめ，落ち着きと歴史を感じさせる環境の中で毎日学ぶことは，学生の考え方や学習への意欲にも影響を与えるのではないかと感じました。

今回，このような充実した時間を過ごすことができたのは，学校の先生方，現地スタッフ，訪問先の皆様，家族，武陽会の皆様，航空会社や空港の職員の方々など，多くの人の支えがあったからです。

この経験を当たり前だと思わず，支えてくださったすべての方々への感謝を忘れずに，残りの研修にも積極的に取り組みたいです。

oday, we visited King Edward VI School and took part in a guided tour of Bury St Edmunds.

When we arrived at King Edward VI School, many students were waiting near the school entrance, holding British and Japanese flags. Their warm welcome made a strong impression on me.

First, we listened to a presentation about the UK given by students from the school. They then showed us around the school, and we gave our own presentation about Hyogo Senior High School.

Afterwards, each of us was paired with a student from King Edward VI School. We joined some of their lessons and had lunch together.

During the lessons, I was impressed by how active and independent the students were. They frequently discussed ideas with one another and asked questions. When the teacher asked a question, students raised their hands as soon as they knew the answer.

This was different from many classrooms in Japan, where students may sometimes wait to see how others respond before putting up their hands. Seeing the students express their ideas so confidently made me realise how important it is to participate actively and communicate with confidence when interacting with people from different backgrounds.

The students also had a good sense of humour, and the school had a lively and welcoming atmosphere. Although our time there was limited, taking part in lessons and having lunch with the students gave us a valuable opportunity to experience everyday school life in the UK.

In the afternoon, we joined a guided tour of Bury St Edmunds and learnt about the history of the town as we walked around it.

One of the most memorable sights was a statue depicting King Edmund. According to tradition, King Edmund was killed by Danish invaders in the ninth century after refusing to renounce his Christian faith. The story says that he was tied to a tree and shot with arrows. Seeing the statue helped me understand the strong historical connection between King Edmund and the town of Bury St Edmunds.

The town has a long and rich history, which can still be seen in its architecture and works of art. Walking through its beautiful streets allowed me to experience its history in a way that would not have been possible through classroom study alone.

After the activities, we had tea and scones at BLS. We enjoyed experiencing a traditional part of British food culture while spending some time relaxing together.

Through the visit to the school and the tour of the town, I experienced several differences between British and Japanese culture first-hand. More importantly, I learnt the value of participating actively and expressing my own ideas with confidence.

今日はKing Edward VI Schoolを訪問し，その後，ベリー・セント・エドマンズの市内見学に参加しました。

King Edward VI Schoolに到着すると，たくさんの生徒の皆さんが，イギリスと日本の国旗を持って校門付近で出迎えてくださいました。温かく歓迎していただいたことが，とても印象に残りました。

校内では，初めに現地の生徒の皆さんによるイギリスについてのプレゼンテーションを聞き，その後，学校を案内してもらいました。私たちも兵庫高校について英語で紹介しました。

その後，King Edward VI Schoolの生徒とペアになり，実際の授業に参加したり，一緒に昼食を食べたりしました。

授業では，イギリスの生徒たちの積極性と主体性の高さに驚きました。生徒同士の意見交換や質問が活発で，先生から問題を出されたときには，答えが分かった生徒がすぐに手を挙げていました。

周囲の様子を見ながら発言することも多い日本の教室とは違い，自分の考えを積極的に表現する姿が印象に残りました。海外でさまざまな人と関わるためには，自分の意見を持ち，自信を持って伝えることが大切だと改めて感じました。

また，現地の生徒たちはユーモアがあり，学校全体に明るく活気のある雰囲気がありました。短い時間でしたが，授業や昼食を通して，イギリスの学校生活を実際に体験することができました。

午後のベリー・セント・エドマンズ市内見学では，町を歩きながら，その歴史について学びました。

特に印象に残ったのは，聖エドマンド王を表した像です。エドマンド王には，9世紀にデーン人の侵攻を受け，信仰を捨てることを拒んだため，矢を射られて命を落としたという伝承があります。町の歴史を象徴する像を間近で見たことで，ベリー・セント・エドマンズと聖エドマンド王との深いつながりを感じました。

ベリー・セント・エドマンズには，長い歴史の中で形づくられた建築物や芸術作品が今も数多く残されています。美しい町並みを実際に歩くことで，事前学習だけでは分からなかった町の歴史を身近に感じることができました。

活動後には，BLSで紅茶とスコーンをいただきました。イギリスらしい食文化を体験しながら，ゆったりとした時間を過ごしました。

現地校での交流と市内見学を通して，日本とイギリスの学校生活や文化の違いを実際に感じることができた一日でした。違いに驚くだけでなく，積極的に発言することや，自分の考えを相手に伝えることの大切さも学びました。

After experiencing several difficulties during the first two days of our study tour, I was pleased that our third day began without any major problems. The rain had stopped by the morning, and from my bedroom window, I could see rows of brick houses typical of England.

Two students from Spain were due to arrive at our host family’s home that afternoon. I was initially rather nervous because I had previously found it difficult to make friends with students from other countries during a trip abroad. However, I decided to regard this as another opportunity to improve my communication skills.

Before the two students arrived, our host mother, Bettina, took Sosuke and me to Newmarket to buy groceries and other necessities. Newmarket is well known for horse racing. On the way there, we saw someone training a horse that was pulling a small two-wheeled cart.

At the market, I made several interesting discoveries. Christmas decorations were already on sale, even though it was only September, while many of the clothes looked quite similar to those sold in Japan. I also saw a vending machine selling Pokémon cards. The unusual artwork on the machine made a strong impression on me.

After returning to Bury St Edmunds, we visited a nearby supermarket and bought some groceries. It was interesting to notice both the similarities and differences between British and Japanese supermarkets.

In the afternoon, the two students from Spain finally arrived. They were only twelve and thirteen years old, but they spoke English very well. At first, I was unsure whether I would be able to communicate with them successfully. However, as we would be staying in the same house, I decided to make an effort to start conversations and get to know them.

After their arrival, the five of us, Bettina, Sosuke, the two Spanish students and I, went for a walk around Bury St Edmunds. We visited the Abbey ruins, St Edmundsbury Cathedral and the town centre before our scheduled activities there the following day.

At the Abbey ruins, we saw the remains of a large medieval abbey that had been built in the 11th century. The Abbey was closed in 1539 as part of Henry VIII’s Dissolution of the Monasteries and was later systematically dismantled. By looking at the surviving walls and a scale model, I could understand just how large and magnificent the original Abbey had been. I also learnt that flint had been used in the walls and examined it closely.

At St Edmundsbury Cathedral, I recognised several features of Gothic architecture that I had researched before coming to the UK, including pointed arches and stained-glass windows. I was pleased to see the architectural features that I had studied in advance.

The town centre had many cafés, restaurants and clothes shops. Bury St Edmunds was larger and livelier than I had expected.

In the evening, we had hot dogs, chips and green beans for dinner. Afterwards, Sosuke and I practised our presentation about Hyogo Senior High School in front of Bettina. I thought the presentation went well, and Bettina’s encouraging comments gave us confidence.

Tomorrow, we will give our presentation at King Edward VI School and take part in activities with local students. I am thinking not only about the presentation but also about how I can start conversations with the students. I hope to communicate actively and make the most of this valuable opportunity.

イギリス研修3日目は，大きなトラブルもなく始まりました。前日までの移動の疲れが残っていましたが，朝には雨も上がり，部屋の窓からはイギリスらしいレンガ造りの家々が見えました。

この日は，私たちがホームステイをしている家に，スペインから来た12歳と13歳の生徒2人が新たに加わる予定でした。以前，海外で外国の生徒とうまく交流できなかった経験があったため，最初は少し不安を感じていました。

2人が到着するのは午後だったので，午前中はホストマザーのベティナさんに，ニューマーケットへ連れて行ってもらいました。ニューマーケットには競馬場やマーケットがあります。向かう途中，馬の後ろに二輪の馬車をつけて走っている人を見かけました。ベティナさんによると，馬のトレーニングをしているとのことでした。

マーケットでは，すでにクリスマスの飾りが販売されていたことや，売られている服には日本とあまり変わらないものも多かったことなど，さまざまな発見がありました。また，ポケモンカードを販売する自動販売機があり，そこに描かれていたイラストが印象に残りました。

その後，ベリー・セント・エドマンズへ戻り，近くのスーパーマーケットに立ち寄って食料品などを購入しました。日本のスーパーマーケットとの共通点や違いを観察することができました。

午後には，スペインから来た2人の生徒が到着しました。2人は私より年下でしたが，とても上手に英語を話していました。初めはうまく会話ができるか不安でしたが，同じ家で生活する貴重な機会なので，自分から積極的に話しかけたいと思いました。

2人の到着後，ベティナさん，蒼輔さん，スペインから来た2人の生徒，そして私の5人で，ベリー・セント・エドマンズの町を散策しました。翌日の研修でも訪れる予定でしたが，修道院跡，セント・エドマンズベリー大聖堂，町の中心部などを見て回りました。

修道院跡では，11世紀に建設された中世の修道院の遺構を見学しました。この修道院は，16世紀にヘンリー8世による修道院解散政策の中で閉鎖され，その後解体されました。復元模型や現在残っている壁を見ると，かつて非常に大きな修道院であったことが分かりました。また，壁に多くの火打石が使われていることも教えてもらい，実際に近くで観察しました。

セント・エドマンズベリー大聖堂では，事前学習で調べた先のとがったアーチやステンドグラスなど，ゴシック建築の特徴を実際に見つけることができました。事前に学んだことを現地で確認でき，うれしく感じました。

町の中心部には，カフェ，レストラン，衣料品店などが数多く並んでいました。ベリー・セント・エドマンズは，想像していたよりも大きく，にぎやかな町だと感じました。

夕食には，ホットドッグ，フライドポテト，インゲン豆をいただきました。その後，翌日の学校交流に向けて，蒼輔さんと一緒に兵庫高校についてのプレゼンテーションを練習し，ベティナさんに聞いてもらいました。よくできていると褒めてもらい，自信につながりました。

明日は，キング・エドワード6世校でプレゼンテーションを行い，現地の生徒たちと交流します。発表だけでなく，現地の生徒たちとどのような話をするかも考えながら，自分から積極的にコミュニケーションを取りたいです。

Today, I spent the whole day with my host family.

In the morning, I visited St Edmundsbury Cathedral with my host mother for the first time. The cathedral and its stained-glass windows were very beautiful.

A special service called the All-Age Eucharist was being held to mark the beginning of the new school year, and I had the opportunity to take part. During the service, we sang hymns in English. The singing sounded beautiful inside the cathedral, and taking part in the service was a valuable experience. My host mother told me that children sometimes sing hymns at school in the UK. I was also able to hear the organ and the cathedral bells. When we left, I was given a souvenir key ring.

On our way to the cathedral, we walked through the Abbey Gardens, which were full of beautiful flowers. I was surprised to see banana plants growing in an English garden. I also saw a wild squirrel and enjoyed experiencing nature that was different from what I usually see in Japan.

After the service, we went shopping. We visited a farmers’ market and bought some scones. I noticed that shop staff often said, “Have a nice day!” when we left. Their friendly words and smiles made a strong impression on me.

I also introduced some aspects of Japanese culture to my host family. We folded origami cranes together, and I showed them how to make them. My host family also asked me to write “Nice to meet you” on a shikishi board. I wrote the words with a Japanese brush pen and gave the board to them as a gift. I was pleased that they liked it.

Through today’s experiences, I learnt that making eye contact and smiling can create a friendly impression, even when we do not use many words. I also learnt that when introducing Japanese culture, it is easier for people to understand and enjoy it when we experience it together rather than simply explaining it.

I have been communicating with my host family using the simple English that I already know. Sometimes, it is difficult to understand everything they say, but I try to work out what they mean from the words I recognise and the situation.

Tomorrow, we will take a tour of Bury St Edmunds and have activities with local students at King Edward VI School. I will participate actively, do my best and enjoy experiencing school life in the UK.

今日は一日，ホストファミリーと一緒に過ごしました。

朝，ホストマザーと一緒に，初めてセント・エドマンズベリー大聖堂を訪れました。大聖堂の建物やステンドグラスがとても美しかったです。

この日は，新しい学年の始まりに合わせた「All-Age Eucharist」という特別な礼拝が行われており，私も参加しました。礼拝では英語で賛美歌を歌いました。教会内に響く歌声がとても美しく，貴重な経験になりました。ホストマザーから，イギリスでは学校でも子どもたちが賛美歌を歌うことがあると教えてもらいました。また，オルガンや大聖堂の鐘の音も聞くことができました。帰るときには，記念のキーホルダーをいただきました。

大聖堂までの道では，アビー・ガーデンズを通りました。庭園には美しい花がたくさん咲いていました。バナナの木があるのを見て，イギリスの庭園でもバナナが育つことに驚きました。また，野生のリスも見ることができ，日本とは異なる自然を感じました。

礼拝の後は，買い物に行きました。ファーマーズマーケットでは，スコーンを買いました。店を出る際，店員の方がよく「Have a nice day!」と声をかけてくれました。笑顔で言葉を交わすことを大切にしているように感じ，その温かさが印象に残りました。

また，ホストファミリーに日本文化を紹介しました。一緒に折り紙で鶴を折り，作り方を教えました。さらに，ホストファミリーから「Nice to meet you」と書いてほしいと頼まれたので，筆ペンを使って色紙にその言葉を書き，プレゼントしました。喜んでもらうことができ，私もうれしかったです。

今日の経験から，言葉がなくても，相手と目を合わせて笑顔を見せることで，親しみを伝えられると学びました。また，日本文化を紹介するときは，説明するだけでなく，一緒に体験することで，より分かりやすく伝えられることにも気づきました。

ホストファミリーとは，これまでに学んだ簡単な英語を使ってコミュニケーションを取っています。話している内容をすべて聞き取ることが難しい場合もありますが，知っている単語やその場の状況から意味を考え，理解しようと努めています。

明日は，キング・エドワード6世校で現地の生徒たちと交流し，ベリー・セント・エドマンズ周辺を見学する予定です。積極的に学び，現地の学校生活や生徒たちとの交流を楽しみたいと思います。

ヒースロー空港に到着し，いよいよこれより香港経由の帰国便に搭乗します。

振り返ればあっという間の9日間でしたが，現地校での交流や大学でのワークショップ，そしてホストファミリーとの生活など，生徒たちにとって非常に貴重でかけがえのない体験と大きな喜びに満ちた毎日でした。

空港に向かうバスやロビーでは，「もっとイギリスに滞在したかった！」「帰りたくない！」という名残惜しむ声がたくさん聞こえてきます。それだけ充実した時間を過ごし，自分自身の成長を実感できた証だと感じています。

日本到着まで気を引き締め，全員無事に帰国いたします。

We arrived at the Bury St Edmonds at night. And we met our host family for the first time in forever!

Then I ate lovely dinner cooked by my host mother. Sweet potatoes are very sweet and delicious.

I learned that there are so many potatoes in British food!

I couldn’t talk with my host family so well,but I could speak in simple English and got through infinity.

The most used word in that day is “Gracie ! Good girl !”

Gracie is my host family’s pretty dog.

I got sleepy, so I slept in the beautiful bed in the world!

And next morning, I ate fried eggs and coffee.I accidentally put barbecue sauce into the coffee because I thought it was coffee sugar!

We left Hong Kong after resting at a hotel for two hours and spent 13 hours getting to Heathrow Airport. At the airport, I played games and watched foreign movies.

I learned the importance of in-flight entertainment. We were in economy class, but I was amazed when I saw the business class seats.

We arrived in the UK after a nine-hour delay.

When my friend and I went to the toilet at the airport, we found that British toilets are different from Japanese toilets.

Then, we visited Bury St Edmunds by private bus and met our host family.

I learned many things while talking with them. In particular, I learned that British people sometimes say “thank you” instead of “sorry.” I thought I would try to do it.

私たちはホテルで2時間休んだ後，香港を出発して，13時間でヒースロー空港まで着きました。飛行機の中では，ゲームをしたり，外国映画を観たりしました。

機内エンターテイメントの重要性を学び，ビジネスクラスのすごさに驚きました。

私たちは9時間の遅れの中，イギリスに到着しました。

友人と私が空港でトイレに行ったとき，イギリスのトイレは日本のトイレとは異なることが分かりました。

それから，私たちは専用バスでBury St Edmundsを訪れ，ホストファミリーに会いました。

彼らと話すうちに多くのことを学びました。特に，イギリス人は「すみません」ではなく「ありがとう」と言うことが多いと学んで，やってみようと思いました。

At around 8 p.m., we met our host family. They were very friendly and cheerful, and we enjoyed talking with them. Their dog, Matty, was very cute! For dinner, we had pizza and salad with tea. Everything was delicious.

The next day, we went to a farm together. I fed many kinds of animals, and the little sheep were especially cute! I also played with the children at the farm park and enjoyed going on a swing for the first time in a while.

In the evening, we ate pasta, garlic bread and salad on the veranda. Afterwards, I saw many stars in the sky. They were much clearer than the stars I usually see in Japan.

I realised that we are all looking up at the same sky, whether we are in Japan or Bury St Edmunds. Although we speak different languages and live far away from one another, the stars shine above all of us. During the rest of the study tour, I would like to enjoy each activity, communicate actively with local people and use what I learn in the future.

今日の8時ごろにホストファミリーと対面しました．とてもフレンドリーに話かけて下さり，僕たちも楽しく会話できました．ホストファミリーの家にいる犬が，とてもかわいかったです．夜ごはんには，ピザとサラダを食べました．食事と一緒に紅茶を飲んでとても幸せな気分になりました．次の日，僕たちはホストファミリーと牧場に行きました．牧場では，いろいろな動物たちにエサをあげました．特に，小さな羊がとてもかわいかったです．エサをあげた後は，牧場の公園でホストファミリー先の子供と遊びました．ブランコにひさしぶりに乗ったのが思い出です．帰ってからは夜ご飯をベランダで食べて，そのあと，満天の星空を見ました．やはり星空は美しいです．日本よりきれいな星空でした．私たちが今イギリスにいようが日本にいようが，どこにいようが，見上げる星だけは，いつでも，誰にとっても変わらずそこにあり続けていることを実感しました．言語も距離も飛び越えて，すべての人の頭上で等しく輝く星は，人類が共有する最高のロマンなのだと感じました．ここからのイギリス研修の活動も，楽しみながら，積極的に現地の方と交流しながら学んで，今後につなげていきたいです．

At 15:30, we met at Kansai Airport. We looked around the souvenir shops before our flight. Seeing many foreign tourists made me excited about going abroad.

We were going to take the 18:35 flight to Hong Kong, but it was delayed because of a mechanical problem. As the departure time kept changing, we were worried about missing our connecting flight in Hong Kong.

At 20:00, we received a ¥3,000 meal voucher and had dinner at the airport. I had a seafood bowl. It was very good.

At 21:00, the new departure time was set for 23:30. We were relieved that the problem was found before boarding and that we could still travel to Hong Kong.

As this was my first time flying abroad, the delay turned out to be a valuable experience. It taught me that unexpected problems can happen during international travel and that it is important to stay calm and be flexible.

15:30，関西空港集合。18:35の出発まで，日本のお土産を見るなどして空港内で時間を潰しました。日本の玄関口である関空には外国の方が多く，​今から海外へ行くのだという実感が少しずつ湧いてきました。

18:35発の飛行機に乗り，香港へ向かうはずでした。

「はず」という言葉がこれほど似合う状況もそうないでしょう。飛行機は遅延しました。

何度も更新される遅延アナウンスに，私たちは不安と焦りを隠せませんでした。なにより，香港での乗り継ぎ便に間に合うかどうかという点が大きな問題でした。

20:00，3000円のミールクーポンが配布され，本来なら機内で迎えるはずだった夕食を空港内の飲食店で済ませました。​私は，しばらく食べられないであろう日本食として，海鮮丼を食べました。とても美味しかったです。

21:00，23:30に飛ぶことが確定しました。どうやら機体の故障が原因だったそうで，搭乗前に気づいてよかったとポジティブに考え直し，とりあえず香港にはいけそうなことに安堵しました。

しかし，このようなハプニングも研修の醍醐味。海外へのフライトが初めてな私にとって，とても貴重な経験になりました。

香港経由となった長旅も無事にひと区切りを迎え，生徒たちは無事に目的地へと到着しました。

香港からロンドン，そしてステイ先へ

香港国際空港を朝8:05に出発した便に無事全員で搭乗し，長時間のフライトを経て，夕方15:00頃にロンドン・ヒースロー空港へ無事到着しました。

空港からは全員で専用バスに乗り込み，ホームステイ先があるBury St Edmundsへ移動しました。長旅の疲労はありつつも，窓の外に広がるイギリスの景色に胸を躍らせていました。

夜8:00頃に到着後，いよいよ温かく迎えてくださるホストファミリーの皆さんと対面しました。緊張とワクワクが混ざり合った表情で，それぞれの家庭へと向かい，いよいよ本格的なホームステイがスタートしました。

日曜日は終日，各自ホストファミリーと一緒に過ごす予定です。イギリスの家庭生活や文化に直接触れる貴重な休日となります。

関西国際空港に到着後，想定外のスケジュール変更が発生しましたが，全員無事に旅を続けています。

トラブルによる急遽のフライト変更

当初予定していた18:35発の直行便が機内故障により運航不能となり，急遽，香港経由の代替便へと変更になりました。

各種手続き等に時間がかかり，実際に Kansai International Airport（関空）を離陸したのは23:00頃となりました。

香港での一時滞在とヒースローへの乗り継ぎ

香港到着： 現地時間の深夜3:00頃，香港国際空港へ無事着陸しました。

ホテルでの短時間休憩： 空港直行のホテルへ移動し，朝6:00までシャワーを浴びたり身支度を整えたりして体を休めました。

ロンドンへ出発： 朝8:05発の便に搭乗し，目的地のロンドン・ヒースロー空港へ向けて出発予定です。

「14時間のフライトになり，先は長い」と校長先生。

長時間の手続きや深夜移動により疲労感はあるものの，生徒たちはこの思いがけないアクシデントも「旅の貴重な経験」として受け止め，お互いに声を掛け合いながら逞しく前向きに乗り切ろうとしています。

9月2日（水），2026年度イギリス研修の参加生徒および保護者を対象に，保護者説明会を開催しました。

説明会では，学校長のあいさつに続き，株式会社ISAの担当者より，出発までに必要な準備やホームステイでの生活について説明していただきました。また，本校担当者からは，研修の詳しいスケジュールや現地での注意事項について説明しました。特に，集合時刻を守り，常に余裕をもって行動することや，夜間・早朝の行動範囲など，安全に研修を行うための大切な点を確認しました。

今回の研修は，9月11日（金）から19日（土）までの9日間の日程で実施します。ベリー・セント・エドモンズでのホームステイをはじめ，キング・エドワードVI校やベクスリー・グラマー・スクールの生徒との交流，ケンブリッジ大学の見学と現地大学生とのワークショップなどを予定しています。

ロンドンでは，ナショナル・ポートレート・ギャラリーで英語による解説を受けるほか，在英国日本国大使館を訪問し，大使館関係者による講話や意見交換に参加します。また，研修の最終日にはウィンザー城を見学する予定です。

生徒たちは，説明を聞きながら，研修中の生活や現地での活動を具体的にイメージするとともに，時間やルールを守って行動することの重要性を改めて確認しました。また，ホームステイや学校交流では，英語を使って積極的にコミュニケーションを取ることが大切です。うまく伝えられないことを恐れず，自分から一歩踏み出して交流することが，異文化への理解を深める貴重な学びにつながります。

今回の説明会を通して，参加者それぞれが研修への期待を高めると同時に，安全で実りある研修にするための心構えを整えることができました。出発までの期間，体調管理を十分に行い，必要な準備や英語でのコミュニケーション練習を進めていきます。

ご参加いただいた保護者の皆様，ありがとうございました。今回のイギリス研修が，生徒たちにとって新たな価値観や文化に触れ，自分の視野を広げる充実した機会となることを願っています。

事前研修の一環として，4月10日（金），甲南大学全学共通教育センターの野村和宏教授をお招きし，「英語によるプレゼンテーションの技法」と題した特別講義を実施しました。今回は，本校のベトナム研修に参加する生徒たちとの合同開催です。

講義ではまず，「会話（Conversation）」と「スピーチ（Speech）」の違いについて考えました。スピーチは一方通行だと思われがちですが，実際には話し手と聞き手の間で，視線や態度を通じたコミュニケーションが絶えず行われていることを，図解を交えて分かりやすく教えていただきました。

また，実践的なプレゼン準備のチェックリストを用いて，具体的なアドバイスもいただきました。スライドの見やすさや，借り物ではない「自分自身が共感できる英語表現」を用いることの大切さ，そして本番でのアイコンタクトや発声方法など，専門的な視点からの熱心なご指導に，生徒たちは真剣に耳を傾けていました。

今回の講義で学んだ「伝えるための技法」は，現地での学校交流やプレゼンテーションに直結する非常に重要なスキルです。秋の出発に向け，これからの事前研修を通してさらなる準備に励んでいきたいと思います。

• I learned what to do to make a good presentation. Between conversation and presentation, there are many big differences. In presentation, I must tell something to many audiences. Therefore, unlike conversation, I have to speak clearly and pay attention to accent. Also, I should organize my thoughts because to make a good presentation, I must look at audiences.
• I thought this lecture was so practical and useful. For example, the information that there are 4 styles of speech presentation made my thought for presentation deeper and clearer. In addition, Mr. Nomura said that practice is the most important thing to build the ability to make presentation in another language. Thus, I will practice more.

9月に実施される創造科学科「イギリス研修」に向け，4月9日（木）に事前研修を行いました。今回は，本研修の大きな魅力の一つである「ホームステイ」についてのオリエンテーションです。

「この海外研修は単なる観光旅行ではない」という前提のもと，参加する目的や自分なりの目標を明確にすることの重要性を学びました。異文化に触れ，新しい自分を発見するためには，受け身ではなく主体的な姿勢が求められます。

研修では，ホームステイ先で「お客様」ではなく「家族の一員」として過ごすための心構えやマナーについて詳しく確認しました。例えば，「恥ずかしがらずに積極的に話しかける」「分かったふりをしない」「自分の部屋に閉じこもらない」といったコミュニケーションの基本から，「感謝の気持ちを伝える」「進んでお手伝いをする」といった生活上のルールまで，実践的なアドバイスが伝えられました。

生徒たちは，言葉の壁や文化の違いに戸惑う場面を想像しながらも，真剣に資料を読み込み，ホストファミリーと深く交流するための準備を進めていました。

• I learned the importance to tell what I thought or my idea. I was told it by my host mother in my stay in Australia, but I came to lose this these days. Also, I learned lots of things. For instance, to help host family do their housework. I found it important 'cause it is fairly critical factor to live myself in the future n become independent.
• The guest speaker's presentation was very interesting for me. I want to work hard to achieve the goals I've set for myself. Finishing my spring vacation, in addition, starting guest teachers classes, I'm gradually realizing that I'm going to the UK. I want to do my best.
