Tatsuno Castle

Akamatsu Murahide is believed to have built a medieval castle on Mt. Keiro on the west bank of the Ibo-gawa River, which Hachisuka Masakatsu, Kinoshita Katsutoshi, Koide Yoshihide and others later upgraded with stone walls. In 1672, Wakisaka Yasumasa became lord and built a new castle at the foot of Mt. Keiro, which served as a residence for a ruler of a domain of more than 50,000 koku (one koku = approx. 280 liters or 150 kg. of rice, a unit measuring the estimated production volume of the domain). In 1979 the gates, turret and palace were reconstructed at the castle site, bringing new vibrancy to the peaceful castle site.
