Eshi no Soshi(Tale of a Painter)
Eshi no Soshi (Tale of a Painter)

This work illustrates the circumstances of an impoverished artist who, although he is happy that he was bestowed land in Kii Province (present-day Ehime Prefecture), he soon finds out that the people who live there are violent, and since tributes had been collected, he would have no income there, resulting in the artist filing various complaints. This work is presumed to be a picture scroll that was thought to be replicated in the latter part of the Edo Period based on an original that was produced in the latter part of the Kamakura Period (14th century).
