Yamai no Soshi (Diseases and Deformities)

This is a reproduction created at the end of the Edo Period of a document from the latter part of the Heian Period (12th century) that was thought to have been stored in the storehouse of the Regeoin Temple, and originally produced by the Cloistered Emperor Goshirakawa. It illustrates the various medical conditions that were seen among the people living in the capital. The structure consists of 14 stages, such as a parent and child with blackened noses, and a man with an abnormally small tongue.
