When I first stepped off the train at the single-story station, I was 22 years old. The venue for the first written examination of the teacher employment test was Kakogawa Higashi High School. I can still recall, as if it were yesterday, the way I walked to the school gate, filled with hesitation and confusion. Thinking back to that day as the first step in my journey as a teacher, being appointed as the principal of Kakogawa Higashi High School felt like fate. Over thirty years have passed since that day. Kakogawa Station, where I arrived once again at the end of last month, has been completely rebuilt, and there is no trace of the old station building. As I looked up at the rotary, what caught my eye immediately was the banner on the wall of the station-front commercial facility: "Kakogawa Higashi High School will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2024." At that moment, my heart and body trembled at the significance. Under the new educational vision of "cultivating individuals who can pioneer an uncertain future," our school has been highly regarded not only in the prefecture but also nationwide. It is a model school for cross-curricular STEAM education utilizing state-designated Super Science High School projects and the latest ICT technology in recent years. However, the essence of our school's education, cultivated over many years, lies in fostering individuals under the school motto of "self-governance and harmony," instilling in them the "human charm" to move groups to action and the creativity and critical thinking skills to solve problems. We develop leaders who have the courage to challenge new things. We aim to create a school where students talk about their future selves, where teachers take pride in supporting them, and where parents warmly watch over them with deep trust. To achieve this, we are committed to working together as in educational activities. Furthermore, we will continue to collaborate more closely with the PTA, alumni association, and the local community in the future. We appreciate your understanding and support. |
