54　in spite of (〜にも関わらず)の用法

(1) In spite of many difficulties he realized his dream.
多くの困難にも関わらず彼は夢を実現させた。

　(1)の文は接続詞の though (〜にも関わらず)を用いて複文で書き換えることができる。
(1’) Though he had many difficulties, he realized his dream.

(2) In spite of illness, she worked hard.
病気であるにも関わらず、彼女は熱心に働いた。

　(2)も同様に次のように書き換えられる。
(2’) Though she was ill, she worked hard.
