Uniform
The students have a winter and summer uniform, as well as a sports uniform.
The boys wear the traditional Japanese uniform of an 'imperial style' jacket and black trousers. In spring, they wear
a white long-sleeve shirt and in summer, a white short-sleeve shirt. On the collar of the student's jacket is a gold Roman Numeral clip that shows the year
the student is in.
The girls wear a long blue 'sailor style' jacket in winter with a scarf and a long pleated blue skirt. The jacket is substituted for a long-sleeve
white blouse in spring and a short-sleeve blouse in summer.
The sports uniform for the boys and girls is identical. However the uniform is either a dark blue, medium blue or light blue, depending on the year of the student.
The students' last name is written on the jacket and tracksuit pants.
At Ono High School, the students' shoes are also colour coded. For the year 2000-2001, the third year students have white shoes with
red tips, the second year students have green tips and the first year students have yellow tipped shoes.
The school is very disciplined on the uniform and only the accessories permitted are a watch. Students are not allowed to have
their ears pierced or to colour their hair.
Transport
Many of the students catch trains and buses to come to school. For those students living further away, it is not unusual
for it to take 2 hours to get to school. Students living around the school usually ride or walk to school, with a lucky few
driven by parents or relatives.
Clubs
Many of the students participate in sporting and/or cultural clubs. They
practice from one to seven days a week. The clubs are an important part
of the students' lives in terms of making friendships and learning team-work
skills. They are very dedicated to their club activities, especially the
sports clubs who practice throughout the year, including holidays and weekends.
