     Eiko Shinya's One Person Drama
 「Shinseta ryon」
The story of a Korean woman in Japan

On March 8, 2000, Eiko Shinya performed a one person drama, titled "Shinseta" at Naka-cho's Verde Hall. The story is about a Korean woman's struggles in Japan. It began in 1925 when a fifteen year old Korean girl moved to Japan where she encountered discrimination and prejudice. Although Ms. Shinya is Japanese she played the Korean woman. This play was part of the students' ethics education.
After the performance, Ms. Shinya talked with Student Council members, on stage, about the issues she tried to address (see picture below).

Today, I watched Eiko Shinya's one person drama。I realized how much Koreans struggled when they came to Japan. It doesn't make sense to me because everyone in the world is equal. It made me very sad that Japanese people treated Koreans horribly in the past.
Now, since we are aware of and thinking about the past, I don't think it will happen again. So, I want everyone to think about the issues addresed today.
