Can you defend your precious people?
Mr. Yoshiki INOUE, Kobe City Security Committee Member.
I hope for students to think and act positively in everything they are involved in. In the Hanshin-Awaji earthquake, we regretted not having prepared for this dreadful disaster in advance. The fire department, police and government cannot save and help all suffering citizens. We have to defend ourselves in disasters. To survive, some tools and food are essential. Equip yourself with these things and keep them outside of the house for emergencies.
As one of the skills for surviving, we can make an easy lantern with oil, tissue papers, tin foils and cups. With 6 lanterns, we also can cook rice in 40 minutes. As an effective tool for fire fighting, we can make water plastic bags with ease.
A basic idea for civil disaster prevention is "I will defend your place, so you defend my place in return". Wherever one is, one must protect one's surroundings.
