Environment and Disaster Mitigation
(A.F)
The environment and disaster mitigation course started at Maiko High School in April 2002, 7 years after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Disaster. It is meaningful to set the course at a school located in the disaster area as the center of the disaster mitigation education first in Japan. The 21st century must be the age to cope with the disaster and mitigate it. It depends on whether we send our lessons to the world or not. We are enjoying it in environment and disaster mitigation course. I think that choices to the future usually extend considerably than the department in case of being in this subject. And, think that all of the environment and disaster mitigation course will become necessary human in the future of the future.
Earthquake experience
(T.M)
5:46 on January 17, 1995. I experienced the "Hanshin Awaji great earthquake" at the age of six. Underground rumbling calleduGOOOO!!vcontinued. Width is 10km,It was a very big shake. The town which I know raised the flame and was burning. It is 4250 persons to have become the underlay of a thing and to have passed away in the morning. 504 persons passed away with the fire. Japan is called country of an earthquake. While there are 20 plates all over the world, four plates are in Japan. Ten years have passed since the great Hanshin-Awaji earthquake happened. By that earthquake disaster although they could be obtained and excelled, teachings lost many things, and many persons lamented them and they were in pain. "I don't want to have a big earthquake any more."
International exchange
(Y.M)
In the Maiko high school, a lot of various countries and the discussions concerning disaster prevention, etc. are done. The story of the disaster that happens in each country and measures against it, etc. are talked about. It might be, and proceeding is directly and participates in the discussion in the young geisha high school as for proceeding our participation in the center such as JICA Hyogo the participation of the foreign country occasionally. It is done in JICA Hyogo in March this year, and is 'Disaster prevention world child conference. ' that I remain in the impression in that though there are an exchange in which all members participate and an exchange in which it participates by goodwill1,000 children or more think about honorable of the life on the turning point of the Hanshin-Awaji (Kobe) Earthquake ten years. Disaster prevention of theme was talked about. 60 representatives were participating from 12 countries in the world. 'Disaster prevention education of the school' was talked about though there was something of dividing, and discussing with the group that had been allocated respectively in that. Children in other countries were really surprised when saying that it was the one that 1/3 of the classes is related to disaster prevention in my school. The country where disaster prevention has been taken to the education of the school seems to be few still.
