International Exchange Club

Beginning of the club
Since publishing our school's homepage, we have received a lot of e-mail
from abroad, including requests for correspondence and questions about
Japanese school life. The International Exchange Club was established in
Nov. '96 to reply to the mail and represent our school. Now 13 members
(age11-12) are working every Tuesday with a teacher and a volunteer
         translator.

Activity
After reading mail from abroad, the members talk about it and answer
questions as necessary. To avoid possible trouble, the correspondence
is done between groups, e.g. school to school or club to club, rather than
on a person to person, individual basis. Since the club started we have
received more than fifty messages from several different countries.
A lot of mail has come from the U.S.A. Each correspondence gives us
interesting information that we can't get through TV or magazines here.
Other activities include introducing Japanese culture to children abroad.
Recently we made some cards which explained some popular things in
summer here. We sent them to our sister school in Olympia,
         Washington, U.S.A.

Please leave a message to the club!
